I'm sure that most people appreciate that the sentence for death by dangerous driving is set at no more than 14 years (I think this was increased from 10 years recently), so that the judge's hands were tied. What they also appreciate is that such sentences are a joke. The law really has to be changed to allow for longer sentences, especially with a record like...
Given the circumstances although I'm sure he had no intention of killing anyone, he did because he drove in a dangerous manner so that is nowhere near enough.
Look at the pictures of those two beautiful kiddies and then look at the picture of that vile monster - I'm afraid I have no words either. Like I said on another thread, what a world ...
He obviously had no consideration for anybody else at all. He's never passed a Driving Test or held a licence. Shown no remorse. Shouting his mouth off in court. I'd like to hear New Judge's take on this regarding the sentencing guidelines because this excuse for a man should get the max in my eyes.
Two beautiful little boys, Corey and Casper, xx
//A driver who killed two young brothers in a hit-and-run crash had 30 previous convictions for driving without a licence or insurance.//
Why wasn't he jailed after the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th...........................29th time?
Why was he allowed to continue until he killed some innocent children?
"I'd like to hear New Judge's take on this regarding the sentencing guidelines because this excuse for a man should get the max in my eyes."
He near enough did receive the maximum. The maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving is 14 years. Since he pleaded guilty he must be allowed a one third discount of whatever sentence is decided. This makes the maximum sentence nine years and four months.
Care must also be taken when considering multiple offences such as this. Consecutive sentences are rarely imposes and virtually never imposed for offences which arise from the same incident. So there would be no possibility of the offender serving two consecutive sentences where two deaths were caused.
As New Judge says, The driver has got VERY near the maximum possible. Yet again, people do not realise that a Judge CAN NOT just make up a sentence off the top of his/her head. They have no option but to sentence in accordance to the sentencing guidelines for the particular offence.
Thanks NJ, I feared it might be the max, it just doesn't feel as if justice has been done.

If that was aimed at me EDDIE I KNOW VERY WELL THEY CAN'T, that's why I asked NJ.
I was about to say you had asked for them too, goodness knows we are aware there are guidelines - Eddie tells us often enough in a most particular fashion.
