/// Superintendent Glyn Fernquest said: 'I'd like to just reassure the public that this incident is not believed to be terror related and has no links to the Newport marathon that is taking place this morning. ///

What could it possibly be, a hate crime or a racist incident or just yet another nutter?

The police have released a statement saying that they do not believe the incident is not terror-related, because at this time of the investigation they’ve not found anything to support that line of enquiry.

Reading between the lines, it would appear that they are looking at some other motive.

By the way - that whole ‘beyond your comprehension’ stuff...best to leave it out, because it’s you basically saying that I’m too stupid to understand information that you can.

It always ends up in a slanging match.
Sometimes it depends on what media outlets you read. The police were told it was gang-related. some outlets went with

'terror-related not ruled out'
Others went with
'not terror-related'
The ‘comprehension’ thing was aimed at me, sp.
Personally I think it is a daft statement to make.

Until they actually know the reason why they should stick with 'We are keeping and open mind' or similar.

Rushing out with statements like "we BELIEVE it is not terrorism" does not help ally public fears, indeed it feeds the conspracy theorists and idiots on social media.
Yeah, sp... it was aimed at Zacs.

Didn't you understand that?
Well, it certainly fuelled this one.

/// For instance, the police may have discovered that the driver and one of the people mown down are known to each other...and that one had a grudge against the other. ///

At the time they didn't even know the driver's identity, only that he was black.

/// Specialist officers are currently investigating and are appealing for information in relation to identifying the driver of this vehicle.' ///

/// the police can then issue one of the following statements: ///

/// 1. This is not terror related.

2. We cannot rule out a terror attack at this time.

3. This is being treated as a terrorist incident. ///

Yes but they didn't say either of these, but what they did say was:

"This incident is not believed to be terror related."

A little different don't you agree?

// indeed it feeds the conspracy theorists and idiots on social media.//

That's us told.
AB is not social media, TwitFace is.
AB is not social media - you sure?
The distinction is very subtle isn’t it.
I would class it as social media.
I'm not going to get into an argument over it.

If the cap fits ....
Certainly there are posters who are not very sociable.
Of course AB is social media.
As much as you don't want to believe it...you are no different to a Twitface user Mafbog.
AOG

Apologies - I didn’t realise you were talking about Z-M.

But my final point is...I think the police say this to reassure people.

With regard to this particular case, you proffered hate crime, racist incident or just another nutter. It would be pure guesswork on our part. In addition to your list, it could also be the second half of a previous argument, or even a seizure etc etc.
There's nothing to argue about.
Fine, it's one of those threads is it?

I'm off. See you another day maybe.
Yes, it always makes me laugh when people criticise Facebook whilst posting on here.
The thing about Twitter is that it does have verified users.
AB doesn't, we just have to believe posters are doctors, bankers, or whatever they claim to be.
