We've been here before, Peter. As I pointed out (probably about a year ago) and Mamy has pointed out just now, it is not difficult to obtain contents insurance as a tenant. I seem to recall providing links to two or three insurers (probably the first two or three I tried) where you could obtain a quote for just those circumstances. The risk to insurers when covering contents in a rented premises to that in owner occupied accommodation.

Did people buildings and contents insurance then.?
I hope the enthusiasm to prosecute these folk will be matched when it comes to those identified as culpable for the scale of this disaster - but I won't hold my breath.
What I want to know is, did they choose the cladding because it was cheap, aesthetically pleasing. or deliberately murderous?

Ohh and what actually caused the fire? Fridge? Accelerant? Power supply interference?

Who is asking those questions? Or are the possible answers not acceptable?
