I think people are unduly harsh on youngsters - the stuff my kids have to know is far harder than anything I had to do, even the stuff they have to know for year 6 SATs is stuff that didn't use to be covered until secondary school (if at all). My daughter who is in her first year of secondary is already being measured against her expected GCSE grades. This pressure on youngsters to meet targets is immense.
