What a hideous painting of a (supposed) lion.
Quite right too.
3 lions on a shirt.
I too agree it's a bit out of place, though a fabulous picture of the Lion - it will only be for the duration of her term of office.

I bet she instantly recognised the portrait of Edward Colston as soon as she saw it, not to mention knowing of his association with the slave trade?
(ah, now we get to the crux of the post)
Zacs - you didn't know that from the beginning? :-D
Instead of a portrait of a lion she should have installed a portrait of a cow (of the silly variety).
I thought AOG had turned over a new leaf. Shouldaknownbetter.
As a Bristol Councillor I should hope she did know of Colston - would be most odd not to.

Are you sure you wanted that in your heading ?

And pray what would that be, kind sir?
Its actually not uncommon for officials to make some changes to their official rooms for the duration of their office. I think that moving the painting of a well known slave trader to a museum about the slave trade is quite appropriate. I can't see the pictures on the mail link, just get blank placeholders so can't comment on the lion picture.

You see when one puts something positive in one's post, there are some who still get upset, because they can't turn the post into yet another anti-AOG thread.
The fact that the lady in question is mixed race, AOG. It wouldn't have been a story for you otherwise.
Ah, but then you reverted to type 5 mins later, AOG.

And that is why I put "Maybe she has a point" (which it seems has ruffled a few feathers, for reasons only known to them).

But if you could see the Lion picture and the surrounding area, you would know where I was coming from.

It is only you who has mentioned the ladies colour, which says much more of you, than it ever could of me.
I don't think it matters what she replaces the Colston picture with. It was quite right for her to get rid of it.
The direction you're coming from is the same one as always AOG......just to the right of Enoch Powell.
