Has the man no shame?

"Prince of profligacy: Charles runs up £1MILLION bill jetting around world – while other royals manage to fly on the cheap"

And what about his carbon footprint he is always lecturing us mere mortals about?

About time we ditched this lot, when her Maj pops her clogs that should be it.

//could be interesting if he gets in. //

abolition isn't labour party manifesto policy. if it was, it could be interesting - or it could see the party buried for generations. he could campaign for a referendum - but in today's climate, he would lose.

Now where have I heard that about referendums before?
He is only obeying orders. Gotcha.
the monarchy plays a part in the constitutional processes of the UK. In theory, they CAN veto government policy, or make them do something else. Fortunately this is got round very easily by the day's government never putting anything too contraversial before them so that they are never in the position of actually having to do that.
The Royal Travel Office have no say whatsoever about how Charles and Camilla choose to travel- they simply book the flights etc for them. Charles is notorious for travelling overseas and said he would "never" fly with British Airways when he found his flight with them "uncomfortable". He also has no qualms about jumping on the Royal Train at a mere £ 20k a journey to the taxpayer to spread his green gospel.

The point about the Royals bringing millions to our economy is a good one- that however is not an excuse for profligacy, and the Queen knows the value of money unlike her siblings. Charles lives a live of total luxury and when he stays away from home vanloads carrying his food, beds and furniture travel before him. He's got a larger carbon footprint than the yeti.
A Rebel Prince by Tom Bower is an excellent insight into Charles and his spending habits. Thankfully his reign won't be "long to reign over us", as he will be the oldest king to ever ascend the throne.
I agree with NoM at 12:04. The Queen is great and I think William, Kate, Harry and Meghan are very popular and I like them. I am a fan of Philip too, not too keen on the rest (apart from the children), but I still like having a Royal family.
The notion that because the Prince's travel arrangements are made by others than himself means he appears to have no say in the matter is an insult to the tax payers.

He is not stupid - he knows how expensive his travel is, and he could easily have a word with the right people to get the costs cut, if he wanted to.

Heaven knows he's not backward at piping up with things that concern him personally far less than the immoral amount of money he is costing the country, directly or indirectly, to say nothing of the pollution caused that is supposedly so much a personal crusade.
