andy-hughes at 20:02 and 22:33, since no other woman has made the pronouncements you refer to I can only assume you're talking about me. If you are, then have the courage to address me directly and counter my posts with reasoned responses. Anything less is impotent. You shouldn't be attacking 'personalities' anyway. You of all people know 'the rules'.

//Thank heavens such narrow-minded pronouncers are a tiny minority when measured against the people with the will to change things //

Where is your will to change things and how do you intend to accomplish that?
Resigning from AB would be a start.
That was no insult: That was an opinion.
That refers to my post at 2057.
Agree with all the above posts.
The reference in the OP to "education" was clearly ironic: you can't "educate" the theocrats who rule the Islamic Republic of Iran. One of the first things Ayatollah Khomeini did when he returned to Iran and gained power after the overthrow of the Shah was to reduce the legal age of marriage for girls to nine, thereby removing the criticism (implicit in the existing law which set a higher minimum age) of Mohammed who had sexual congress with his "wife" when she was exactly that old (in lunar years, by the way). You don't "persuade" people like that, do you?

The good news for Iran is that plenty of Iranians have little taste for theocracy, as the recent mass protests, usually described by the media (when they are mentioned at all) as protests against "economic" conditions, prove. These Iranians don't need "education", they need support (not necessarily "interference" quoting one poster). The media could report the opposition to the mullahs honestly; it could publicise Iran's insistance that all entrants to the female chess championship which it's currently hosting are veiled (and the few principled young women who refused to compete); it could could stop denouncing Trump's revocation of Obama's Nukes for Nuts deal and applaud it for the act of sanity it clearly is; it could report the two year sentence passed on the woman he was leading the recent hijab protest in Teheran - a protest asserting a woman's right not to be veiled - all "feminists" supporting "Wear a Hijab Day" please note.

Oops - insistquote[e]nce.
Italic curse strikes again. Insistence.
Zacs-Master - // Resigning from AB would be a start. //

Resigning?????

I think you are confusing the site with the Cabinet.

No-one needs to 'resign' from here, you simply stop posting, you don't need to take The Chiltern Hundreds!!!!

You do make me laugh!!!!

Oh, and in terms of me leaving the AB - either by 'resigning', or any other method - in your dreams!!!
Spicerack - // Agree with all the above posts. //

Thanks! All support gratefully received.
sanmac - // That was no insult: That was an opinion. //

The two are not mutually exclusive.
Question Author
//Fortunately, enough people ignore the 'knowledge queens' and their lofty pronouncements that nothing will change, because they say so, and people have carried on and made a change anyway. //

//Simply spouting off that people cannot be changed is an easy cop out from a difficult situation, and will ensure that nothing ever changes for the better.//

That makes perfect sense, andy.
But just to clarify...which is it

Change will happen despite 'knowledge queens'
or
Change won't because of 'knowledge queens'

Windows has encountered a conflict and must close, please save any unfinished work.
:o)
Vetuste. Absolutely. To condemn the people of Iran because of their barmy leaders is as absurd as condemning all Americans because of Trump.
Bainbrig, this thread started out as a condemnation of the barmy rulers of Iran and not the Iranian public in general.
Yes, sanmac, but as usual degenerated into the usual ill-informed “all Muslims are evil” garbage.
bainbrig, I suggest you read what v_e said again - carefully.
Talbot - // That makes perfect sense, andy.

Delighted, as always, to clarify your confusion for you -

Change will happen despite knowledge queens.

Their endless lofty pronouncements, based on their unproven 'knowledge', will fortunately be ignored by people who want to make things better, rather than simply shrug and decide that they are the way they are, and that's it, because knowledge queens say so.
Andy-hughes …. dear….. once again you have allowed your personal animosity to take control of your senses. People may change … as is evidenced by the subject of this thread …. women daring to post a video of themselves dancing. What will not change is Islam…. because it cannot.

As for ‘unproven knowledge’, since you’re never confident enough in your own pronouncements to cross-reference anything you disagree with you’ll never know if that ‘knowledge’ carries proof or not.

Lots of love from the … err …’Knowledge Queen’.

‘Knowledge Queen’. That’s actually pretty naff, you know. Perhaps if you took time to breath between those moments when red mist determines your responses you could come up with something funnier. Or wasn’t it meant as a joke? ;o)
