The licence will have to go up. (unless the executives take a pay cut)
I hope he donates it to charity or better still not accept it and accept a public apology.

That's our money.

I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for him.

Ladybirder, why not?
Spicerack. You may have a good idea there, instead on putting the costs out to license payers why not deduct the cost from the executives salary who gave the ok to carry out this raid by the BBC. Makes sense to me .they screwed up then they should pay.
I'm happy at the outcome of this.
Naturally, the 'substantial damages' will come out of Central Funds rather than the pockets of the executives responsible. It may be too much to hope that those same executives are carpeted for this stunt but I'd like to think it would give similar pause for thought in the future...
//I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for him//

I wholeheartedly agree.
Because I don't like him Naomi. I think the BBC were wrong in what they did and he had enough money to sue them so good for him. But because I don't like him I just can't feel sorry for him. Daft I know but hey ho, unlike so many on here I ain't perfect.
>>>I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for him.

Up until now he is innocent.

He has never been charged with anything.

How would you like it if loads of police arrived at your house, took you away in handcuffs, and then searched your house for the next few days?

Even if you did not get charged with anything can you imagine the neighbours gossip and accusations.

It wold be bad enough for a private individual let alone for such a famous person.

I think the behaviour of the BBC and the Police was disgraceful and he deserves everything he gets.
£210,000 out of the Kitty isn't that much.
LoL, Talbot.......I saw what you did, there..... :o)
I remember in 2003 the actor Matthew Kelly was arrested after some accusations.

He was actually appearing in a pantomime as Captain Hook at the time and he was arrested as he came off stage.

Charges were never brought.

But why on earth did the police have to go an arrest him just as he came off stage?

Surely a famous person like that could have had a "low key" arrest and questioning.

Sometime the police behave in such a heavy handed way.

Even though he was never charged there is still details about his arrest on the internet, so casting doubts on his name and reputation after all this time.

Article from 2003 Daily Telegraph below still on the internet.

Guilbert...he wasn't taken away in handcuffs. He wasn't even in the country.

Ladybirder, I don’t understand how a personal dislike overrides fair judgement between right and wrong …. but okay.
>>>Guilbert...he wasn't taken away in handcuffs. He wasn't even in the country.

I DIDNT SAY HE WAS !

My question was to ladybirder who said she could not feel sorry for him.

I was asking how she would feel if that sort of thing happened to her.
I agree he got fair judgement Naomi. As you say, and I agree, good for him.
But I cannot feel sorry for him because I don't like him. I thought that was quite a brave admission because now you will all know I'm not perfect as I'm sure you all thought I was until now;-)
Sorry Guilbert didn't see you'd ask me a question.
I'd probably be as peed off as he was and seek recompense as he has.
£210k isn't a great deal but it's a start. The award for the loss of earnings will be much greater, I'm sure.
