yes treason is a crime still
and the last one was Lord haw Haw - hanged but not regarded as a success and Churchill ordered no more be brought.

is good enough.
Treason is good enough for 1400's but not really stood the test of time.

glad to see no one seems to have read it since last week
am I the only to see that if you have a law like
de haeretico comburendo 1406 ( concerning the burning of heretics ) and you fink muslims dey are heretics yeah,
it may still NOT be a runner to say - oo yeah lets burn them! That is - more directly - because there is a law with a whizzie label that you like ( here: Treason) it might STILL not be easy or appropriate to use it.
[ my example is a little weakened by the fact that that the statute of 1406 has er in fact been repealed ...]

oh god I dont know why I take this sort of thread seriously.
Treason Act er 1351 is here
https:/ /en.wik ipedia. org/wik i/Treas on_Act_ 1351
it is about invading or sort of making war against the Queen of England and her successors. The courts had become a littel to liberal about chasing the killers of Edward II ( yeah the foo-foo up the hoo-hoo, that one) and an Act was needed.
Doesnt mean it works today
The difficulty as I am sure the Home and Foreign Office knows that if someone goes and fires a few shots at Pres Assad - it almost certainly isnt treason. It is something else.
( Foreign Enlistment Act - you cant join anothers army without the sovereigns permission) - clearly here they are gonna say they didnt join - they just sort of found anAK 47 and started firing it)

//Since the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 became law, the maximum sentence for treason in the UK has been life imprisonment.//
This sounds about right.
//adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid and comfort, in the realm or elsewhere//
