The maximum sentence for Treason is life imprisonment... and if traitors returning from Syria or from anywhere else are to be accepted back into this country the maximum sentence should be applied .... in every case. No exceptions.

it is about invading or sort of making war against the Queen of England and her successors. The courts had become a littel to liberal about chasing the killers of Edward II ( yeah the foo-foo up the hoo-hoo, that one) and an Act was needed.

The difficulty as I am sure the Home and Foreign Office knows that if someone goes and fires a few shots at Pres Assad - it almost certainly isnt treason. It is something else.
( Foreign Enlistment Act - you cant join anothers army without the sovereigns permission) - clearly here they are gonna say they didnt join - they just sort of found anAK 47 and started firing it)
