Pity the Americans can't find anything against them.

'Old Sparky' is waiting for customers.
//why are they allowed to wear burqas in court?//

Because we are living in a multi-cultural country in which diversity is not only allowed, but celebrated.

The same courtesy would be extended to a Gymnosophist.

You can email them directly.

Or if you prefer you can write to them.

/// in which diversity is not only allowed, but celebrated. ///

It may be allowed, but it certainly isn't celebrated, except of cause by the ethnic minorities.
in court
rather than just say - bikinis ?

I thinnk they should be allowed back into this country sl logn
country so long as they co operate with the authorities.

they know the score - if they dont the kids go into care.....
Is treason not a crime anymore?
Sick innit?
now I was just saying that earlier on
yes treason is a crime still
and the last one was Lord haw Haw - hanged but not regarded as a success and Churchill ordered no more be brought.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/personal-view/3619029/Whatever-their-crime-dont-call-it-treason.html

is good enough.

Treason is good enough for 1400's but not really stood the test of time.
The maximum sentence for Treason is life imprisonment... and if traitors returning from Syria or from anywhere else are to be accepted back into this country the maximum sentence should be applied .... in every case. No exceptions.
oh and the treason act and passport bit ( Lord haws Haw again) is here

https://www.brightlinks.org/knowledge-bank/law-and-politics/features-and-resources/famous-cases-william-joyces-treason-trial

glad to see no one seems to have read it since last week

am I the only to see that if you have a law like
de haeretico comburendo 1406 ( concerning the burning of heretics ) and you fink muslims dey are heretics yeah,

it may still NOT be a runner to say - oo yeah lets burn them! That is - more directly - because there is a law with a whizzie label that you like ( here: Treason) it might STILL not be easy or appropriate to use it.

[ my example is a little weakened by the fact that that the statute of 1406 has er in fact been repealed ...]
Totally agree Naomi @ 16:35. We are far to accommodating and lax in this stupidly governed country...but hey....us Brits know how to give our culture etc away to foreigners. We excel in it IMO ....
Lock em up and feed em pork.
dunnitall, this country abounds with Useful Idiots.
Sorry, missed a bit of the OP. No, they shouldn't be allowed to wear burqas in court - or anywhere else.
oh god I dont know why I take this sort of thread seriously.
Treason Act er 1351 is here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treason_Act_1351

it is about invading or sort of making war against the Queen of England and her successors. The courts had become a littel to liberal about chasing the killers of Edward II ( yeah the foo-foo up the hoo-hoo, that one) and an Act was needed.

Doesnt mean it works today

The difficulty as I am sure the Home and Foreign Office knows that if someone goes and fires a few shots at Pres Assad - it almost certainly isnt treason. It is something else.
( Foreign Enlistment Act - you cant join anothers army without the sovereigns permission) - clearly here they are gonna say they didnt join - they just sort of found anAK 47 and started firing it)

PeterPedant, do stop getting your knickers in a knot with your historical -or is that hysterical - delvings, there's a good chap.

//Since the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 became law, the maximum sentence for treason in the UK has been life imprisonment.//

This sounds about right.

//adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid and comfort, in the realm or elsewhere//

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_treason_in_the_United_Kingdom
These sad-sacks should not have been allowed back into the country.
