//Max Hill QC - once dubbed a "politically incorrect snowflake" for being soft on terror - will replace Alison Saunders as the £250,000-a-year Director of Public Prosecutions in November… Mr Hill – the boss of the UK’s terror watchdog – was slammed earlier this year after publicly urging the government not to arrest jihadi fighters returning from fighting for ISIS but instead give them "space" to get back to normal life.

As the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, he defended those who went to fight in Iraq and Syria as "naive" teenagers….. He has also courted controversy by claiming the phrase "Islamist terrorist" should not be used to describe bloodthirsty jihadi killers.//

Well, that’ll learn ‘em!

Who decides on these ridiculous appointments?

I don't know who they are, jno, but you're right. There's no doubt whatsoever that I disapprove of their decision here.
It's about time we had an Enabler In Chief to oversee the doling out of scarce resources to traitorous animals skulking back to their lairs.

What can possibly go wrong?
Question Author
1ozzy, indeed.
appeasement to the ethnics or political correctness, either way wrong
they should not be allowed to return, in their eyes we should all be killed or enslaved sold ie women, men would be shot or beheaded.
but no they are just misguided and need comforting...forgiveness is seen as weakness to them.
Well what can one say?

Except this country takes one more step into the abyss.
Question Author
aog, well, clearly some won’t agree with me but it would be encouraging to think that those charged with bringing our enemies to justice are actually on our side.
I suspect many here didn't want them arrested either, just shot on sight.
I think your being rather bias Naomi and taking the words of one section of the press as representing him truthfully (always a dodgy basis for a sound argument).

In the past he's stated that friends and families of terrorists should be jailed for failing to alert authorities to possible attacks.

He's also said that some existing powers are underused or carry sentences that are too light to work as an effective deterrent to terrorism.

He's used section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000 to successfully prosecute people associated with terrorism and then complained that the sentences he handed out (max 5 years) were insufficient.

let's have a balanced view, eh?
Well I'm sure time will show what side he lies on.
Question Author
Zacs, oh, I'm all for a balanced view. Got any links?
Question Author
Thanks .... but it doesn't negate the rest of what he's said.
I never said it did but I thought it worth giving a broader picture of Mr Hill's standing on the subject, especially in light of the 'snowflake' comment.
Question Author
Righto.
