Now this has got to be PC gone mad, even a PC nut would'nt say BC is no longer alowed! Some Museum Curator has decreed that we should now say "Before Present" and has changed all the signs and literature. Please tell me this is a wind up! Today's Express by the way.

I am ashamed to say that this story is local to me. The museum in question is in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset.

BP....daft as a brush. One bloke on the local radio is now refusing to take his family to cheddar in protest! You couldn't make it up if you wanted to.

Um, being pretty new to this kind of thing, I've read all the postings on this subject with interest, and I have to say that this PC business is really quite ridiculous and in this case, extremely so. As for the BP thing though, just in case anyone wasn't aware, BP is a dating system using 1950 as the the zero year, set up by scientists who were playing around with Carbon Dating. I think this was the year that there were some fundamental differences noted in our atmosphere after the nuclear tests were carried out.
We are not a multi-faith country, we are a tolerate and understanding Christian country. Unfortunately we allow ourselves to get walked all over by more aggressive religions...

I didn't mean a dig JB sorry but it was an attempt at "knowing irony" a sort of semi familiarity with each others arguments, as we are regular debaters on here. I'm sorry if you thought it was a dig.

I'm an aetheist and an archaeologist and I'm all for using BP or BCE rather than BC. well done Cheddar Gorge.

we're no longer a Christian country, we're a secular one. Our secular freedoms were bought with a fair bit of blood and persecution from the renaissance onwards.

BC is outdated, particularly as there's no firm evidence outside of the bible that Jesus ever existed
