I believe this was mentioned a month or so ago by another person in the press.
I'm sure we had this thread not long ago.

He sounds desperate.
I think he has a point.
All businesses operate on a 'supply and demand' basis. The drugs business is exactly the same but those involved have particularly nasty ways of ensuring they maximise their own profits.
It's not just middle class either. The amount of Coke flying round pubs has become shocking....even during the week.
The sub headline reads ‘helping to fuel‘ which is not the ‘all’ you have written. I’ve no idea why you post statements which are basically flawed, AOG. It’s no wonder your threads go awry.
Thats the Mail's headline.

This is what Khan sais.
"Sadiq Khan said middle-class Londoners taking the drug fuel gang violence"

Mr Khan also takes the opportunity to get his 'Remain' agenda over.

/// Mr Khan, who campaigned for a Remain vote in the EU referendum, said Brexit could make tackling the drugs trade harder. ///

/// 'The drugs come from overseas and the idea that we will be more effective at fighting crime by leaving the EU - by not having the security arrangements with the EU - is ridiculous,' he said. ///
I suspect he's right: a lot of what appears to be random violence often turns out to be drug-related, which suggests a rise in knife attacks could well be linked to a rise in drug-taking (or more correctly, to the buying and selling of drugs). There's more of it in London because London is way bigger than other towns, but I shouldn't imagine smaller cities will be immune.
that's also just what the Mail says, Webbo. To find what Khan himself said you need to look for words in the text in quote marks - and hope that the Mail has got them correct.

'There is a definite link, which has been shown to me by the police, of drugs and criminal gangs and knife crime and crime going up.
'There are some Londoners who think it is a victimless crime, taking cocaine at "middle-class parties".
'We need to make sure Londoners realise there is no such thing as a victimless crime.'
'Some of the young people being knifed on our streets in London, some of the young people losing their lives is because they are involved in criminal gangs who are lower down the food chain in relation to drugs.'

Hard to argue with any of that.

/// 'We need to make sure Londoners realise there is no such thing as a victimless crime.' ///

Is he saying that Londoners are that thick?
I don't think he does have a point.
We could go on and on about supply and demand... a burglar has a demand for the goods he steals. Who is to blame for burglary
No, he's not.
But he is saying, quite rightly, that too many of them do not appreciate that their desire for a postprandial 'toot' has greater consequences out in the real world.
Talbot - Fences used to get longer sentences than burglars as they were seen as creating a demand for stolen goods....
If we're talking in generalisations and quick fixes, legalise the lot and shut down the business overnight.

Nobody's serious about sorting it out or it would have been done by now.
Question Author
-Talbot-
/// Will you ever accept that the environment you are born into has a bearing on an individual's life
AOG? ///

There are many who are born in less than ideal environments, but they don't turn into killer gangsters, in fact some become ideal citizens.
Whilst I agree that Khan is desperate not to face facts, demand for Cocaine does create a serious problem.

However, acid attacks, moped muggings and the suchlike are not necessarily related to drugs in anyway. Society is becoming less civilised with each passing day.

One thing I fail to understand ... what kind of a saddo wants to snort cocaine? Is a glass of wine not enough when socialising?
Any comment on my point that your statement is factually incorrect, or are you going to ramble on on the basis that your accusations are incorrect?
So, when a Conservative Minister Secretary of State for Justice says it, no one bats an eyelid, if if Khan says it, then it is ridiculous.
TBF he has a point, no customers = no suppliers.
