webbo, You need to remember, using the phrase 'cultural appropriation' is the same as using the term 'gender neutral' - it's shorthand for the rather more lengthy, but far more accurate phrase - "I am an over-thinking egotistical idiot with more time than sense and I believe that my opinions are more important than anyone else's, even though it is a...

Never mind rice, Gin & Tonic has been culturally (mis)appropriated the world over.
So anyway (!) is this rice worth trying or not?
Prudie - // So anyway (!) is this rice worth trying or not? //

Put it this way - if you are a normal intelligent person who doesn't spend your life drawing attention to yourself by shrieking from the media rooftops about 'appropriation', then give it a try.

If you are an attention-seeking idiot, then you are prevented from trying it because your planet sized conscience will ensure that it sticks in your throat!
I believe it's OK as long as I while I'm eating it I think about what my ancestors did and gulp a bit :-)

spath - // Andy.. what about if you simply like jerk?

Oh wait.. is this rice jerk?

;o) //

Once again I must refer you to Jim for a response as to how the culturally guilty feel and proceed, being neither, I honestly don't care.
I suppose I should be grateful to be recognised as AB's leading expert in yet another field (after stats hoarding, impromptu lecture-giving, and all-round know-it-all-ism).

Self-pity - along with superiority - does not become you, and for the record, I am not referring enquiries to you because I think you are any level of expert - merely that you are the only person I know of on here who consistently entertains this nonsense as something worthy of your intellect.
I wasn't being self-pitying, I was trying to inject a little bit of humour. Glad that you got the right end of the stick :/

As spath advises, sarcasm often does not translate correctly - especially if the poster has spent part of the rest of the thread being earnest and somewhat superior.

Try a 'LOL' at the end, that works for me.

Have you made that up spath? Never seen that before
// I think you are any level of expert -//

jim I know you are a pure maff expert (inc propositional and first order logic) - the others dont but then again - they dont know the difference between 'assume' and 'conclude'

oh, solutions manual for Cutland's Computability - does one exist?

sozza to the OP I might have culturally appropriated ( temporarily I assure you) this thread
I wonder if jim is bald yet...
I shall knit him a Rasta hat - ;-) LOL /s etc
