That’ll be me then – among others. When he is the subject of witch hunts – which is often – unlike those with their ever-present spiteful intent, I’ll say so – but I’ve no objection to saying he’s wrong if he’s wrong. Rather than gleefully jumping on the ever-rolling bandwagon though, I would like to read something rather more than the Guardian’s clearly propagandist piece that you are all so delighted with. I’ll google later.

Trump's long-term lawyer, Michael Cohen, has just confessed in court to breaking election expenses law "at the direction of a candidate for federal office". This basically directly implicates Trump in criminal activity.

Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign manager, has been found guilty on eight counts of tax fraud and other charges.

At some point the "witch hunt" defence stops standing up, because victims of witch hunts are innocent. These men are guilty.

As far as I can see they're not the subject of a witch hunt ... are they?

Since both were implicated in the course of Mueller's investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election -- for the sake of clarity, Manafort's charges do not relate to 2016 -- an investigation about which Trump has been screaming "WITCH HUNT" at least twice a day for the last six months", I think it's fair to argue that the "witch hunt" line stops standing up at this point.

Perhaps you are using a narrower definition of "witch hunt", in which only Trump is the subject, but I was addressing his use of the term also.

To be fair, it's hard to keep up with your arbitrary and unjustified decisions whether to support Trump or not.

He's been implicated in a criminal act by his former lawyer, while another of his former aides also turns out to have been a crook. Why defend him on those charges?
