hereIam, because she tries to justify what's happening now I suppose. She can't. It's nonsense.

AOG, as you're so keen on getting it right (Lord Mayor) perhaps yo should be aware it is 'Lady Mayoress' and not Lady Lord Mayor as you said earlier.
May be an old Tory but this chappie seems like a breath of fresh air to me.

Well that's okay then, so let's put a stop to some Muslims swanning about like post boxes and 'thus burning a thousand years of Islamic behaviour'.
And another......LoL

I think I only need one more for a Full House on today's 'By Jingo Bingo Card'.
Lol...check your spelling before you correct someone :-D
At 1503:"... rule book that says he must dress up like a popinjay?" There is also probably no rule book that states he should dress up as a jack-in-the-box either.

Nothing positive to contribute to the thread then ummmm?
FYI. There is a shop in London where they sell the " back to front " ball base caps, it's very popular .

Oh dear, oh dear, here is me with my PC hat on and I am still in the wrong.
One can just not keep up with what is appropriate and what is not.
To be serious, we will only lose many of our ole customs and traditions if we don't keep the alive and kicking next to new and fresh ones - that's our job.

We can't expect traditions to survive if we don't keep them going.
Some are so outdated that we'll never persuade the young to keep them on but others are worth fighting for.

As I said earlier the next incumbent may be more of the old style, and so it goes.

/// There is a shop in London where they sell the " back to front " ball base caps, it's very popular.

Are you sure that you have not been entering from the back of the store? :0)
Anneasquith, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the people who buy their caps there immediately, upon leaving the shop, wear the caps with the brims at the front:)
No they don't !!!!!!!! :-)
OK then, they stand scratching their head in confusion for a few minutes, and then, in a eureka moment, slap the cap on with the brim to one side:)
pp says, "cocking snooks at the aged population who cant stand change".

Would that be the same aged population who voted for Brexit?
I'm sure I'm no expert on Lord Mayor elections, but I'm under the impression some mayors are directly elected. Those that aren't are presumably elected by those that were elected by the public, and if not then they ought not exist in a democracy. But in any case, the method of election is a separate issue to how someone dresses. (Not hiding his identity behind his costume, is he ?)
I haven’t read this thread but I bet AOG has been unable to define what British culture is, but still claiming we’re losing it. Sheesh.
A plate of jellied eels and a rousing chorus of 'Roll out the Barrel'. Can't think of anyone else wot does that.

Night night.
