I fear chilldo that this is correct ( validated by evidence)
I mean how many gurlz have got a Nobel for Physics

She described pulsars ( alone of the students was prepared to stare at 30 minutes print-outs) 1967 - and was excluded by Hewish and Ryle ( who-ish???? geddit) who got a Nobel and she didnt
Being a Plymouth Rock or a Quacker her only comment was
I have no complaints: I havent had a bad career as 'the woman who should have got a Nobel!"
Gender neutrality could work in a male dominated area
which 16 c lady mathematician - - - - well barp! there arent any!
but - "the describer of their Last theorem - was he mister or misses?" - barp mister pretty obviously - might fit the bill of gender neutrality
jsut saying
the biog of Jocelyn Bell is worth a read

sanmac- re the 'mickey mouse' course at Durham, have you actually looked at it properly? The 'Harry Potter' module is one small part of one year of the diploma course or degree course, and if you looked at the content you would see how it fits in to the study of education. It's not a course I would choose or recommend but no-one is forced to choose this option or course
The only area I find has a gender bias is sport questions. The majority of major sports are male dominated so it would simply be more difficult to set questions on sport based on female participants that people stood a chance of answering. Female soccer and athletics are the only really commonly used areas Equestrianism maybe but the answer is usually Charlotte Du Jardin

er is this a joke - Durham got 320 a few nights ago -
which I have never seen before ( paxo had and was grudging )
it is taken seriously - we had a rematch after drawing with the OU in er 1973 - the days of Bamber Grassgroyne - they want equally matched teams as it is more exciting...
1962 when Somerville got to the semifinals ( black and white - the captain LIGHTS up half way froo ) had a 50% increase in admissions
Manchester - coached their team - didnt win.
