Not necessarily, but you’d be painted as one.

TTT, "Israel has been there for 3000 years!"
As a recognised 'country', it has been there for only 70 years!
And what about all the "peoples", other than Jews, who also lived on the area of land which includes Israel now? Haven't they got an equally historical claim? Where are the Philistines, Canaanites, Edomites and so forth, mentioned in the Bible? Do you imagine none of these produced children with the same right to stay on the land occupied by their ancestors?
And are you really unaware that The United Nations has more than once condemned as illegal the annexation of Palestinians’ property on trumped-up arguments and building Jewish settlements thereon? The sole reason nothing has ever been done to put a stop to this crime is the fact that the USA will never accept that it should be stopped. The dispossessed individual Palestinians, of course, clearly DO believe that their land in the form of farms, olive-groves and so on, legally owned, is still theirs. And so do I!

On holiday I spent a day of organised sightseeing with a very pleasant Jewish couple who live not far from Jerusalem. We got on fine.
I am critical of many of the attitudes and actions of the Israeli Govt..
It is sad that, although I have this couple's email address, I hesitate to contact them. So, yes, probably Zionists are out to stifle criticism and that is unhealthy.

Criticism of Zionism from anyone who understands the politics and the history doesn’t equate to hatred of the Jews per se, but sadly some don’t understand either. Jews in general, don’t like to hear criticism of Israel, but given that their fervent hope spanning thousands of years has eventually been realised, that’s understandable.
I rarely agree with jno or quizmonster but I do here. The Jews have no legitimate historical claim and there are no historical ‘facts’, as Theland asserts, to support such a claim. That said, I know who I would rather have control that scrap of land – and it isn’t the Palestinians.
The Palestinians have, in my opinion, been treated utterly abysmally, but it’s done and on-going conflict is futile. Israel exists – and it isn’t going anywhere - thank goodness.

Now, there's a welcome comment and thanks for your honesty, Naomi. I don't believe I can recall a single occasion when we have seen eye-to-eye, but I welcome your agreement in this instance; indeed, I can see no way in which any right-minded person can just let the longstanding misdemeanours committed against the Palestinians be ignored.
Well, Naomi, one way would be for the USA to stop just vetoing anything at the UN that might annoy Israel and reinstate all the relevant resolutions that the world body has already promulgated and the US has forbidden.
In other words, take steps to at least stop further illegal Jewish settlements and start the process of reversing those already in place. If that means demolishing housing and returning it to olive-groves, so be it. Palestinian ownership clearly stood for nothing, so the same should apply to Israeli fake-ownership.
