Should the public purse be used to fund today’s £2,000,000-plus wedding of Princess Eugenie, who has no royal duties? I can’t see what qualifies her to have such a public televised wedding. She’s hardly a significant royal and over the years her parents haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory. Maybe she has Meghan envy
Apparently the £2m is for security alone and is funded by the police, ultimately the taxpayer – and no, we shouldn’t be footing the bill. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/princess-eugenie-wedding-cost-taxpayer-a3959736.html According to the BBC “Buckingham Palace says the cost of supplying security "is a matter for the police"....
I think the whole wedding should have been contained within Windsor Castle and the cost of policing would have been quite a bit less and we, the tax payers, should pay for that policing. Who wants to see the couple do a tour of windsor.
She did look lovely and I loved the autumn colours of the flowers and foliage around the chapel door. Don`t know why I didn`t go along for a look really as I`m off today. I`d rather see £2m being spent to keep people safe than see the spectacle of terrorists blowing people up or driving into crowds
She did look lovely - and that tiara (borrowed from the Queen I believe) is fabulous - but I think the point is that a more understated wedding - her being a minor royal - would have been less of a burden on the public purse.
