Just heard that Ruth Davidson had given birth to a boy. The Scottish Conservative leader tweeted on Friday afternoon that she and her partner Jen Wilson named the child Finn Paul Davidson. He weighed 10lb 1.5oz. Not quite sure how I feel about this but wish wee Finn a long and happy life.

Yes AH, but we can't see what current society resolves in.. We can only live with the times!

For example upon analysis (maybe in 200 years) we may see that we have gone wrong with out equality, or we may see that everyone now lives in harmony judge free!

That is your family dynamic - but it's not a template for the human race. Other people have different relationships for an infinite number of reasons - the notion that children brought up in same-sex households are lacking is simply not borne out by evidence.
It's hard to look at evidence because it's such a new thing to society meaning there hasn't been the proper research time

I jsut think each to their own, try live happy try not to upset anyone else we'll all die one day so may as well live today ay!
I’m with New Judge on this one.

I don't think anyone will be surprised to read that.

Are you expanding on this, or is it just a random observation?

Are you not all the same family?

If you are a step-father - as you claim to be - then surely all the family's children are yours - or do you have a demarcation system for those you have a biological link to?

It all adds to the picture of why you post the opinions that you do.
A stable, loving family is the most important. A healthy male role model is also great- but a bad or uninterested one will do more harm than good.
Congratulations to them.
Yet another thread that is being pushed relentlessly into a spat.

It’s not necessarily bigoted or homophobic to object to same sex parents. I think a loving mum and dad are the best parents for a child simply because that’s what I think is best for a child. Unfortunately when people want babies, very often their main concern is for themselves and for what they want. To fulfil that vision of an ideal family when often the reality proves to be something quite different. That said, I know several a gay couples who have children, and one couple in particular (men) who have two adopted children are making an excellent job of parenting - albeit with a nanny in-house.
Very sensible Naomi. AH is in a goading mood and I just cannot be bothered with his me me me me me .
Ignore.
^ Best advice.
Are people assuming this child won't have uncles or the parents don't have male friends
Don't seem to be. No one has said anything like that.
Personally I wish I'd had two dads. My mother was a horrendous role model and I would have been better brought up by two men.
Giving a child a loving environment where they can be encouraged to be the best humans they can is far more important than having one parent of each sex.
Naomi - People have mentioned male role models.
