I am a Scot. I do not want independence and I want out of the EU. (who in their right mind wants independence from Westminster but wants to stay shackled to unelected nitwits?) My unicorn is quite happy grazing in my back garden.

"Yes, I do want an independent Scotland (although not all Scots do) and I also want to remain in the EU."
A contradiction in terms, maggie.
No EU member nation is independent. Independent nations control their borders, money, trade and laws. EU members are not free to do that.
Is your wish really that you want to be free from England and are willing to exchange that for supplication to the EU instead? Whether in the United Kingdom or the European Union, Scotland will continue to be "net recipients" of funds but you may find that the EU is slightly less willing to hand over dosh because they already have enough client states with their fingers in the pot. Of course all new members of the EU have to agree to adopt the euro and become part of the Schengen area. With no "Good Friday" agreement to protect the invisibility of the border between Scotland and England do you think your Scottish friends will be happy to endure immigration and customs checks that the EU will probably insist are necessary to protect the integrity of their Single Market and Customs Union every time they climb aboard the Virgin service from Euston to Glasgow Central? Be careful what you wish for.

I’m absolutely sickened about the utter contempt Westminster is treating Scotland and its people!
Scottish newspapers banned from news conferences, 1st minister of third largest party at Westminster banned from debate. It's beginning to look less like democracy and more like tyranny by the privileged few intent on making a killing off Brexit, the cash cow.
