Correct, but I thought this was about cash?
Why won't you use cashless, yfmb?
Actually, if you have a Nationwide Business account you can put I think it is 5 checques a month for free in. I've got one.
Not secure enough for me.

Banks need to make more effort.
Okay, banks charge small businesses for handling their current accounts, too.
Yes they do but if you are small you can use cash as the cash and carry, pay yourself and employees and tradesmen. That just leaves a minimal amount of transactions needed to pay telephones/rent etc although if you pay this via your own account you can by-pass the charges.

It can be kept low. I know as I have done it and like I say the NAtionwide Business account allows for a certain number of free transactons.
The end of pocket money for the kids! Woo hoo!
It's paid by standing order. Was doing that for my kids years ago.
Cash is NOT all but dead, thankfully. I use it mainly all the time and see many people using it in the supermarkets, plus my friends use it too. It's personal choice and should be left like that !
Nay and thrice nay! Taint pocket money then! Taint right! Shouldn't be allowed!
I've mean in the battle cruiser with a load of snowflakes gasping because the card machine has gone on the blink. I always have the old bangers and mash on me when i'm on the Tom.
*Been!
So all the vending machines will become redundant?
I see no reason why vending machines can't be adapted to take cards. It would save faffing about when coins are changed.
danny, they converted all ours to card.
From now on, every Friday afternoon when the factory whistle blows I will sorely miss those little brown packets with me five pound two and sixpence ha'penny nicely tucked inside.
>>> So all the vending machines will become redundant?

The vending machines at Ipswich Station all take cards. They're no different really to car park machines (which are simply 'vending' a ticket). Most car parks now accept cards. All those I know of in Ipswich do but I'm still forced to use cash in Stowmarket.

Similarly self-service petrol pumps are nothing more than 'vending machines'. They've been around for years and some filling stations (e.g. the one at Asda in Bury St Edmunds) now don't even have a cash desk at all.
You could argue that ATMs are simply vending machines which sell you cash; some even charge you for the privilege.
And taxis? Busses?
Felt sorry recently for some cadets in the supermarket trying to raise money for their unit. With a bucket for coins! Hardly anybody donated cozy nobody had coins!
