Have just read that the ex Lib Dem leader Paddy Ashdown has died age 77 following a short illness. Apparently he had been suffering from bladder cancer. RIP Paddy

Oh, that's sad.
That is sad - a politician with a sense of humour.

RIP Paddy.

An MP with integrity as far as I'm concerned.

He was a good man. RIP Paddy.
RIP Paddy.
Really quite sad, he seemed normal.
He had a very natural way about him - RIP Paddy.
Sad news. He seemed to be an honourable man who served his country in the military, the secret service, and parliament.
he also spent some time on the dole. A shame more MPs don't have that sort of experience of life.
No idea what type of man he was, but lovely crinkley eyes :-)
The above posts tell you what sort of man he was Anne.
well, they didn't mention the Paddy Pantsdown business, anne, so there was slightly more to him than is listed above. But several rungs above most of our current politicians.
I think he was a man of honour. I mentioned the pantsdown headline because I believe he would have laughed at it.
yes, I agree, Sandy. I think having done other jobs before you go into politics - not just banking and lawyering - is important.
