Home Secretary Sajid Javid has struck a new agreement with his French counterpart to return channel migrants to France. The agreement will be back-dated to last October meaning that hundreds of migrants will be returned to France in the coming weeks. A step in the right direction – literally?

For me though it will be all about managing the message. If we can get it back to the illegals that risking your life will be for nothing then many (not all) willl not try it.
For the non illegals or true Asylumn seekers there is still the option of seeking asylum in France. But most, of course dont fall into this category.

I doubt those put on the leaky boat are told the whole truth. I strongly suspect they are told they will be picked up and taken to the UK, which has then happened. The traffikers no doubt then encourage some of them (probably bribed) to text/wotsapp back to the others they have arrived safely. The News of the failures wont reach back.
That is why they need to manage the message to them that they will be sent back whatever. No houses, no benefits, no hordes of relatives to follow, just returned.
