I guess the major difference is that we know for sure now that Emiliano, and the pilot, are brown bread. No one could survive being in the winter seas that long.
I’m not sure about the McCann case but poor Emiliano Sala pretty obviously was lost in the English Channel.
As false equivalencies go this is right up there.

Why? Do you think someone could survive in the sea, even in a small life vessel for that long in the winter?
I think the searchers know far more about rescue than you or I Spath so I will go with their decision. Sad though it may be for their families there is no hope now.
Of course it isn’t. I’m not a cheerleader for the McCann case by any means but using it to criticise the calling off of a search for a missing aircraft is pretty poor
