How do we feel about this case? Obviously the man committed an act of paedophilia, but is he to blame, and should he be punished when he had no clue of the girls real age, as she said she was 19?

Could the man claim entrapment? Not that the girl wanted the man to be caught...

How do you know unless you ask every lady you see in the street what her age is?

You'd think it's a 19 year old but may be a 12 year old.

I had three girls Talbot. Whilst mine didnt look that old at 12 some of their friends certainly had developed and with a (lot) of slap looked over 18.

It is only a minority at 12 but by 14 the number is quite large.

I have millions of female relatives and not one of them has looked 19 at 12...even though some of them may have tried to look much older.

If as an adult you have any sexual contact with a 12 year old you are in my book a paedophile/nonce call it what you will.

There was no intent on his part and he was deceived by this girl.

Even when I was 12 way back in the 70s there were girls that dressed up to the n8nes and went out on the pull. In fact it’s easier for girls to look older than it is for boys.

When my daughter was 12, so 2 years ago, I can guarantee not a single one of her friends, or any of the girls she went to School with, would have been able to pass for 19 even if they did have a load of slap on.

Even the judge said "She told him she was 19 years of age rather than her true age and he reasonably believed the victim to be older than she was.'". It appears that was a reasonable assumption from someone who has seen her.
He was not deliberately looking for someone underage and I really believe that all the furore around it and questioning from her parents, police and Social workers would probably have been more traumatic for the girl than just the actual act.
Not sure who they are actually helping here.
