It's never been a secret that Jeremy Corbyn became leader because an inside joke spectacularly backfired.

It's also no secret that the party regard themselves as unelectable while he is Leader, so this sort of reaction was always on the cards for a man who does not lead because he is not a leader.

Hopefully the purge will see Corbyn and his ilk forced out, and a credible Opposition Party can be reclaimed, or formed from the breakaway faction.

Either way, I think it's the beginning of the end for Corbyn as Leader.

Somebody pointed out on Twitter today that the attitude of Momentum et al has for years been "if you don't like it then eff off."

Of course the trouble is that people will eventually do just that. And the response of Momentum (if not the leadership itself) has been spitting with rage. Owen Jones in particular (who I usually have time for even I don't agree with him) has been really quite aggressive about this.

Also I haven't noticed *any* response by Momentum or the Labour leadership to the concerns about racism against Jews. Maybe it just hasn't come up on my radar, but it has been notably absent.

They're not the new National Socialists, just the old socialists. Same old garbage, bullying, and infighting. The sooner they implode the better, and as andy-hughes says, let's get back to having the credible opposition that we desperately need.

It’s happening albeit to a lesser extent in the Tory party too. UKIP entryists trying to forcing deselection of anti-Brexit MPs. 68% of voters saying they no longer identify with either of the main parties. Where it goes from here tho I wouldn’t like to say.
Today with the news about Honda Swindon official, labour leaders should be at the forefront of condemning the Brexit madness (it IS about Brexit no matter what they say now) which threatens to decimate the car industry and jobs for its voters. And what they plan to do about it. Instead they are on the defensive about the persecution of one of its pregnant MPs and more

I agree Honda is at least partly about Brexit, but that doesn't really help Labour when their leaders and unions support Brexit and Swindon voted greater than average for Brexit.

As for Swindon voting for Brexit I don’t blame them for that. Anyone can be susceptible to the nonsense spouted in a referendum campaign.

As for Labour it is rarely ever helpful to call X the new Y and especially in this case. A lot of the problem is half arsed, careless bigotry, not quite the perverted ideology of the Nazis. Speaking of which, it was interesting to see Britain’s answer to the Gilets Jaunes on Newsnight last night. If that’s the Far Right “finally getting its act together” I don’t think we need to worry.

No of course they are not. Most members of the Labour Party are not anti-semitic, but we are not dealing adequately with those who definitely are and if things go unchallenged they spread, so it's a growing problem and a magnet for other who are not 'real' labour party members because birds of a feather...
Corbyn is over as a leader- good- we need a spring clean- and I'm a Labour Party member.

If anything, his critical MPs leaving will make Corbyn stronger in the party. The constant fighting with the Blairites has damaged the party. If they go, then again, those that remain will appear more united.
At the next General election, Labour might lose one or two seats to an Independent, but the majority will return an official Labour candidate.

Strange how topics get derailed to someone's preferred subject. If Honda was all about Brexit they'd be relocating to a county that's a staunch supporter of the EU. In fact they're going home, highlighting the foolishness of relying on foreign companies, instead of UK ones, to provide employment and aid the UK economy. And nothing to do with the EU reducing tariffs from Japan of course.

If the MPs were told that (in the OP) then I hope the member in question isn't just kicked out of Labour but prosecuted. I don't think Labour is the new NatSo but it's pretty clear that Anti-Semites have found a home in Labour and that is disgusting.

Yes, it's what the party faithful have been banging on about since Corbyn was elected - purging the Blairites if they can't be brought to heel in support of the dear leader.
Whether they understand or care that it makes them even more unelectable is another question.
