The once-daily pill contains hormones designed to stop sperm production.

Men - Would you take them?


Women - would you prefer your man to be on birth control?

The thing is.. men can make 100 women pregnant a day, but a woman can only get pregnant once every nine months.

It makes sense for the male, or the seed spreader to be controlled, surely?

However saying that, i'd never put any hormone control into my body and i'd never force the Ms to either bun that.

My view is that if you are in a stable relationship and trust your partner 100%, then yes I'm all for the male pill. I was on the pill for many years as a much younger woman and I never suffered any side effects at all.

Are there and Ladies here who have suffered negative (or positive?) side affects from the pill?

I can't take it (I was on it at one point) because I have focal migraines, and it made me feel sick, screwed with my blood sugar levels ( which are very stable normally) and elevated my blood pressure, along with weight gain. They tried me on a couple of different types and I wasn't prepared to feel like that, but by then they decided to whip me off it on the focal migraine basis alone in the end. so yeah the male pill would have to be something which didn't make Mr Cal feel a ill as the pill made me feel.

I got visual migraines with it, not sure if that is the same as "focal". From observation, including from friends, lack of sex drive was the biggest difference. Which is obvious, I guess :-)

Never had a problem being on the pill for many years. These days I think pregnancy might be the least of women's problems unless they are in a very stable relationship. Condoms protect against more than pregnancy, which a male contraceptive pill will not.

Migraine with aura I think it's called as well Pixie and the person who took me off the pill said I should never have been put on it in the first place suffering with those as it greatly increases your stroke risk. x

Thanks, cal. I had no obvious reason to avoid it, but they started after many years on it and stopped when I stopped it.

So they certainly can mess you up! (I don't mean that as in.. you're messed up but as in, they mess with you in ways you could never imagine or help)

Has anyone had to take or been recommended to take the contraceptive pill due to period pains?

My friend's 9 year old daughter was put on the Pill for period problems only. No apparent side effects yet and she is now 15.

Regarding condoms, the main and only worry for me, is if they rip. I've experienced a ripped condom before, and in honestly (you may think i'm taking the mick now, but i'm not!) I think it was because i had a tiny bit of chocolate on my finger. (grease)

Pixie was it pain with periods? Or just because of problems?

The females i know were specifically due to pain.

Not pain, just very long and heavy and the Pill regulated them.

Interesting. I've also heard people mention they got put onto a contraceptive pill by their doctors due to heavy flow at a young age also.

We're using FAM at the moment, and although I was nervous about it initially seems to be working and done properly has around a 95% success rate, but that so wouldn't work unless you were in a relationship that supports that and have very regular cycles.

I've read a lot about FAM and i mean, it seems good and natural, but also very organised and planned. What about if you got caught short (i know that is a term for weeing yourself) and wanted a quickly when it was ovulation time? Would you go for a condom?

Also yes, regular cycles. Not all women have these especially if they have recently come off birth control pills.

One of my friends used an app to predict ovulation and "safe times". She now has a three year old and twins just over one :-)

Lol if we 'fancy a quickie' lol during danger days we generally do other things. It's only a few days per month are dodgy, so we use those to either abstain and be lazy *** or treat each other to something a bit different :) x

Pixie, yes that's why i use a condom. The idea of getting my Mrs pregnant terrifies me. The idea of her actually having that potential child makes me feel rather anxious.
