/// Sarah Hewitt-Clarkson, head at Anderton Park primary school in Birmingham, which has been at the centre of a row over LGBT+ lessons, added that there were police markers on her house following abuse. ///

Do we need to point the finger?

/// The Department for Education (DfE) has announced a £10m package to improve discipline in schools. ///

I wonder how many canes and blackboard rubbers that will buy?

100 lines for using 'blackboard'.
What are the reasons for threats and assaults at schools other than Anderton Park?

They were called that in those wonderful past days of my school days, before political correctness was demanded in our once land of the free.
from the OP: //but the increased use of social media is likely to have made it easier for parents to directly abuse staff.//

that's about the size of it - mostly trolls using the anonymity of the keyboard to say stuff they'd never say to the teachers' face. and yet - can the possibility of a complete nut job actually doing it be ignored?

The same I would imagine.
Based on one school, you think it's the reason for all the other incidents?
//What are the reasons for threats and assaults at schools other than Anderton Park?//

That's a good question.. No - rephrase that - it's an obvious question: Who's doing it and why?

I'm curious, Corbyloon is curious. The Independent's reporter, however, is strangely incurious.
I would not condone or support mob rule including death threats but the answer is simple.Stop preaching a subject that is not wanted or neccessary.
It would appear antagonistic to the majority culture in this particular school and I am sure the pupils will survive with the 3 r's and more beneficial subjects for later life.
Everyone should be able to carry out their job with no fear of being threatened, there's too much anger around.

As a side note - PC had zero to do with messy dusty blackboards being replaced from most classrooms. A daft urban myth still trotted out after decades.
"The union was unable to say exactly why there has been a rise in threats – but the increased use of social media is likely to have made it easier for parents to directly abuse staff."

ANOTHEOLDGIT, you'd better get in touch with the NAHT since you think you have the answer!
I thought it was a (good) joke. Remember jokes.
I agree with Retro.
I do, not usually trotted out in a discussion about threats of violence.

I'll leave the thread alone having misunderstood the premise.
TCL being TCL again.

Please be good enough to point out to me where I have said that I have the answer?
You're an example to us all, mamya.
I hope you're ashamed of yourself, Douglas.
ANOTHEOLDGIT you said you imagined the reasons for incidents at other schools were the same as those for Anderton Park.

What are the reasons for the incidents at Anderton Park?
Corby, teaching LGBT to young Muslim children against the wishes of the parents.
Is that reason for incidents at other schools? If it is, the NAHT don't appear to be aware of that fact
