For every black person that has been frightened, upset and or felt degraded by such behaviour, including children, it is only right that the police investigate such a public post made by a person in the public eye.

A "police spokesman" says.....it has been brought to our attention that another Baker with a phobia or ism has posted unkind words online. We are very concerned about the effect this has had on the bonobon victim and are making every effort to ascertain the well being and mental state of the unfortunate target of what can only be described as a wicked attempt to ridicule. As you know we have a well published policy of inclusivity and embrace new recruits from all sections of our vibrant society. With this in mind once we have established the whereabouts of the victim we are committed to offering it a leading role in our "service" and will ensure that the training and support offered will be second to none. We are confident that this will be, going forward, a good fit within our ranks.
A Racist tweet? Of course it wasn't, what is racist about a tweet concerning a a recently married couple leading a monkey out of a church or, bananas thrown during football matches and monkey calls?
These facts and racism are coincidental ..surely.
Of course it has racist connotations and should be investigated.

Pretty much a waste of time. He claims not to have recalled any skin colour issue regarding one of the parents so didn't twig there'd be outrage and claims of racism. One can't be sure that's untrue, so all that'll happen is that he'll likely get is a verbal warning/advice about not being so thoughtless in future.
My goodness I'm in awe of how strongly some posters feel about how disgraceful his tweet was. I must ask for some more E&D training (I didn't equate a monkey/ape with black people). Personally I think he got the sack and that should be the end of the matter. Do the police only investigate racist tweets? Would they apply their resources if someone called someone else fat, thick or ugly I wonder.
