Sounds like a load of nonsense. It is nothing to do with the climate change groups being unappealing to BAME people. People living in the most polluted areas tend to be poorer people, who have less time and money to become ‘activists’ (working for nothing for a cause). Sounds like a load of nonsense.

It is nothing to do with the climate change groups being unappealing to BAME people.

People living in the most polluted areas tend to be poorer people, who have less time and money to become ‘activists’ (working for nothing for a cause).
People living in poverty have far more daily worries to think about than single use straws.
Thats the case for ALL working people Gromit, not just the preserve of the poor. And Black white or yellow.
protest groups not PC enough? Perlease!
Always amusing when the right-on PC libs get in a conundrum TTT :-)
Ymb,
Social activism tends to be a middle class activity. Find any group that is poorer and their involvement with ‘causes’ diminishes. It is not their colour or ethnicity that singles them out as under represented, it is their lack of money. That is why I labelled the theory put forward by Ms Kissi-Debrah as nonsense.
I particularly disagree with her when she says climate change activists want to get arrested and BAME people don’t. She has taken one group who use the tactic of arrest, and then tarred ALL climate change activists with the same brush. I find her whole argument flawed.

Tend to agree with you, gromit. (yay)
It's more a case of Bames not supporting the climate change warriors.
And mainly, as you say, because they've got real things to worry about.

^ That would apply, as ymb said, to white working/poor people.
Jings, the manufactured injustice of it all.
Thank you for the BA Spicerack.

We were bound to agree on something eventually

They could always venture forth to where the air is cleaner and the Police know how to smile...
//People living in the most polluted areas tend to be poorer people,//

A strange paradox. North Kensington (for example) is probably one of the most polluted areas in the country. It is also home to large numbers of "poorer" people. But I couldn't afford to live there.
'tend', NJ. regularly or frequently But not exclusively.
