all intelligence on the matter on the internet suggests that the blimp's inflation medium is indeed helium. the blimp was inflated and deflated 4 times last year, and twice so far this year (today, and on the Victoria Derbyshire show) presumably each time representing the total loss of the helium content on deflation.

there is a world shortage of helium, and it is required for the proper functioning of MRI scanners.

can any one on here defend the use of such a valuable resource for such a frivolous use? can you? I'm all ears....
