I have always believed that because Mr Corbyn is a political agitator rather than a politician, he lacks many of the basic skills that make a good politician, and one of those is - pick your battles.
I am sure that Mr Corbyn believes that his typical knee-jerk reaction to the President's visit makes him look principled and high-minded, but in fact, as the overwhelming reaction confirms, it makes him look petty, spiteful and small-minded.
There are opportunities to make a protest against President Trump and his policies - this was clearly not one of them, and a proper politician would have realised that, turned up and smiled and behaved with dignity, and saved his protest for another day.

Corbyn is an utter disgrace. By his behaviour he has not only insulted Trump and the Queen but the entire country. The only comforting thing is that he will never be PM. He will be 73 at the next election for a start.
Let's not forget Cable's attitude in refusing to attend the state banquet. Troubled as they are the Tories seem to be the only ones behaving with dignity.

//For us to entertain a draft-dodging coward to honour our war dead is nothing short of scandalous. My Dad will be turning in his War Grave//
I suspect, therefore, your father will be spinning out of control on Thursday. Corbyn is attending the Anniversary at Portsmouth. The only people he ever hails as heroes armed with a Thompson Gun are
terrorists.

There have been many draft-dodgers/conscientious objectors for some reason or other, mainly opposed to war, but that does not stop them from honouring the dead of these wars.
Incidentally Trump was deferred the draft due to his College studies, he was also medically exempt due to a foot problem.

Draft deferment wasn't uncommon during the Vietnam era — but it frequently benefited a specific group of young men, particularly those who had the means to afford a college education or enough family influence to obtain a deferment.
"David Cortright, a scholar and peace activist, found that more than half of the 27 million American men eligible to be drafted during the Vietnam era were deferred, exempted, or disqualified.
Young men could typically avoid the draft by being in college, getting married, having children, or being diagnosed with a medical condition that made them unable to serve."
So that's around 14 million US "cowards" ? - Quite a large amount.

I view the whole lot with contempt. And on the Brexit issue - sorry to introduce an old theme to this thread - every one of the aspiring leaders voted for the treaty of Versailles, i.e. we surrender and pay the cost.
Boris Johnson? Love him as a character, but wouldn't trust him further than I can spit a brick.
