/// Over 100,000 people from five different mosques gathered together for the outdoor Eid salah – the largest Eid celebration in Europe. ///

That is 20,000 from each Mosque, could that be true?

"Men are superior, that made me laugh."

Not what I think, but like it or not that seems to be embedded into their religion at the moment, hence the segregation.

Yes it seems that the women are certainly segregated.

Here's a woman with her glasses firmly on....I was going to put 'firmly on her face' but then I had another look.

Mr aog
This Mosque, just up the road from me,is one of the largest in Europe. It's capacity alone is 13,000.

//The Baitul Futuh Mosque (English: House of Victories[4]), also known as the Morden Mosque, is a mosque complex in Morden, London. It is one of the largest mosques in Western Europe.[5][6][7][8][9][10] Completed in 2003 at a cost of £15 million, entirely from donations of British Ahmadi Muslims, the full complex accommodates 13,000 people.[11] The main mosque (pictured right) has a height of 23m above ground, and to maximise capacity the building extends below ground. Baitul Futuh is located in the south-west London suburb London Borough of Merton. It is situated next to Morden South railway station, 0.4 miles from Morden Underground station (Northern line) and one mile from Morden Road tram stop. //

/// Why would folk need a special visa to come to the UK to celebrate Eid? ///

Oh so they all come in the usual way then? That is in the backs of lorries or in rubber dingies across the Channel?
ive never understood why women want equality - why lower their standards?
ummmm
@1259
I am sure you are correct but then there are hypocrites in all Religions and Races.A few Muslim convenience stores around here sell liquor and a few I note will drink it as well.
AOG. see post at 12.57
Children, not women, RR.
Give them glasses a rub.
Segregation of tradtion?

When our Muslim friend had a still born baby it was only the men in attendance. They seen to the funeral and once that was over the women attended while the men went home to look after any other children. That's just the way they do it.

I'm Catholic, 6 masses I attended after my dad died. I flew to Ireland for a mass for his granny, never met her, but that's just what they do.

/// AOG, where does it say that people have come from all parts of the world. ///

This from a report in the Sun, other news outlets have also confirmed this.

/// Worshippers from across the globe crammed into Small Heath Park, Birmingham, to mark the end of Ramadan. ////
It says in the link that the event has grown year by year. Maybe people from outside the area have heard what a good time is had and have swelled the numbers?
AOG, Thanks for that, not being a reader of the Sun I could only go by your link.
I don’t see any police officer, tanks, batons, tear gas , maybe this will be a celebration for family and friends. ..?
Retro; i'd rather bump into a Muslim with a drink in his hand rather than one wearing a suicide vest.

/// Yet the photos in your link show females standing next to praying men! ///

So you admit that the women are not praying with the men?

If they were, then they would be kneeling in prayer next to the men.
Why are so many abers obsessed with who stand where and with whom, each religion has different traditions, Or is this just a wee dig at Muslims for the sake of it.
People have said to me that they don't get the way of a Catholic Mass - stand up,sit down, kneel, repeat a refrain etc.

How you carry out your faith doesn't always make sense to those who don't follow it.

Things may change over time, who knows.
Just standing up to misogyny, anne. Unlike some, we don't care who's dishing it out.

/// AOG, Thanks for that, not being a reader of the Sun I could only go by your link. ///

That's okay Danny, I am not a regular reader of the Sun either, but when I enter a thread I generally read all reports on the subject, so that I get a general view on the subject matter, and certain things stick in my mind, but sometimes (as in this case) they may not be included in the news link that I choose.
