//Why must we all (even politicians) think "on message" about everything? //

I don't know, but this is a typical example of what is demanded.

The report still refers to the subject as ‘she’ when very clearly he is a ‘he’.

I have no interest in defending a violent criminal's actions, but nevertheless, no. She's a she.
Don't be ridiculous, Jim. He has been caught bonking a woman - and with his very own equipment!
Yes, that worked out well, naomi. The first of very many problems in that area, I suspect as people with an education in the "bleeding obvious" seem to be increasingly hard to come by. The governor went "up the wall" when (s)he discovered what had happened. He/she may have done better to have gone up the wall when they first imported a male imposter into the female prison. Meanwhile, this is more like it:

Ouch!
"Ann Widdecombe is a practising Roman Catholic and like a lot of religious people clearly believes that homosexuality is a curable 'condition'"

One might ask why, if we're all god's chillun do the devout question the will and work of the deity in populating the world with all sorts.

She is of course entitled to whatever bigotry she wishes to embrace in her crusade to vilify the 'different' but in my personal opinion she's a nasty wee woman who deserves a good shunning.

I'm sure bigger brains than mine have an answer.
A person's identity is not defined by what's inside their pants.
Get real, Jim. He is not a she.
We've gone through this debate before. I'm not interested in going through it again, when we're just making the same points over and over. Go to India and tell them that hijras are really he's, and when you've done that we can resume.
We have indeed discussed it before.... and he's a bloke.

Moving on .....
Jim, no amount of bullying, coercion, insistence or believing ABers are all so thick, that you can confuse them into agreeing with you... will ever change the truth or science.
Jim, the only thing that makes him female is that he says he is - coupled with the ridiculous fact that, in our brave new world, that is all he has to do to change his gender.

So you are right but it's absolute lunacy that you should be - as this event clearly demonstrates.

Your analogy with the "Hijras" is not quite appropriate. I believe they (and the Indian State) consider themselves to be a "third gender". This individual makes no such claim. He’s simply a bloke who has said he is now female.

You’re right – there’s nothing to argue over. The argument should be with politicians who have allowed this ludicrous state of affairs to evolve and prevail.
I can't remember which programme I saw this on, but it said that at conception, everyone is female for a period of 6 weeks, then, the Y and X chromosomes seperate. If they don't seperate correctly, it can result in the person being homosexual. Male or female. It also explains that old question of males having nipples; because they form in the 6 weeks after conception, when everyone is female. Is all that correct?
All embryos start off female. To become male, there are two processes which need to happen. A Y chromosome directs the foetus to become "not female" and to "become male" to put it simply.
Usually that all happens as normal, if either or both don't complete, you have an intersex baby (usually male).
None of that is anything to do with identity, which is linked, but separate. It is just biology.
Yes, it is the reason why men have nipples, and why there is a seam under the scrotum (the labia joining up). Testes are just ovaries that descend and react to different hormones.
People are getting very confused between this and the expectations of society.
Btw, they don't "separate". You have an X or a Y from conception, and that is the sex you are.
"So why is Widdy in the tish here?"

Forgive me if somebody has already answered the question- I must have missed it.

She is not in any trouble. She had been invited to speak in a theatre and be paid for her time. The invitation has been withdrawn. She is not facing criminal court, not being fined, not being beaten up in the street or barred from her favourite pub. Just not being asked to perform in exchange for cash.

She might even be in a position to get some payment for doing nothing, depending on what the agreement was. The kind of tish I wouldn't mind being in.
//(I don't know if anyone else (possibly Mibs, Nailit and Theland?) will remember an ABer from years ago - a Muslim turned Christian - who, together with a couple of friends, hired an exorcist to try to cure his gay friend//
Would that be Mani, naomi?
The same 'Christian' who wanted to hire a prostitute for a friend?
He was one mixed up religious person!
I don't know what Anne has said that is so wrong. Medical research has been carried out for years as to why homosexuality happens. Maybe one day they will discover the answer.
Living where I do, I am surrounded by homosexuals, in fact have six living in my small block of flats. I also have friends and family who are gay. Not a single one has said they would rather not be gay and I have asked a lot of them. Living in a place where you are accepted by 99% of the population must help a lot but for someone who is "the only gay in the village" life must be tough.
Regarding Widders, I don't see anything wrong in what she said at all and I'm surprised she is being taken so seriously. But then again maybe not, she's probably made somebody's day.
PS. There's a programme about homosexual animals on Ch4 now.
