Whatever Rees-Mogg did or did not say, it will be fifty microseconds before anyone, millionaires or not, feel the benefit of having a nation in control of itself.
As for economics, no point in being pessimistic and basing questions on that. One needs to be confident in one's own abilities, and the abilities of our merchants. No reason they should be any worse than other countries. And as government forges further trade deals worldwide the rate of rising to the top should increase dramatically. Does one no good trying to do one's country down by naysaying; as remainers have done & seen, but are in denial of admitting to.

Well, it does to me ichkeria - and it obviously does to The Guardian, which is why it's taken the trouble to explain it as a deliberate part of Labour strategy in this election. And it was clearly a successful strategy (in time I expect the press will also publish the huge percentage of the postal vote that favoured Labour).
There's a lot of unease about the way postal voting is being abused, not necessarily in ways that might result in criminal charges being brought, but abuse all the same. If you don't know that by now, you never will.
And I'm still not calling for a rerun of the ballot. A large block vote in fairly small cities like Peterborough will always win the day if people don't take the trouble to get out there and vote. The people of Peterborough have only themselves to blame.
I say 'blame' because, in this instance, they've helped elect another Labour MP with an unhealthy attitude to Britain's Jewish population.

Update -
The council insists there were no irregularities with the postal vote and the Returning Officer has released a statement giving some of the official data.
The postal vote was much bigger than I thought, there were 9,898 postal votes in total, with 400 rejected, so 29% of all votes were postal (the UK average is 18%). That would be a very big percentage even for a General Election, let alone a by-election with a low turnout.
Only Labour had enough feet on the ground and sufficient time to fully exploit the postal vote, and even the left-wing press acknowledges that fact. Sadly, it looks like they got away with it.
