It is called 'Royal Duty'Her Majesty the Queen had to entertain the President of Romania she described him as an awful man and avoided him when she could on his state visit in 1978 but she gritted her teeth and did her Royal Duty.
Like it ir not the Duchess will not be able to pick and choose what she wants to attend in the future. She,apparently, has become very unpopular with members of the Royal household who have quit including her female Close Protection Officer. Unfortunately we will pronbably not know after Ken Wharfe disclosed Royal confidences about the Princess of Wales why these staff are suddenly quitting.

This is what is causing this furore on this post. She did attend the trooping but a few days earlier had planned not to attend the State Banquet. It was common knowledge that there is no love lost betweeen her and POTUS.

She is American.....Trump is American; surely she is far better placed to criticise her *own* President, and be concerned about his impact on their country than any on this side of the pond who applaud his election?
But her 'avoidance' of him last week and the reasons behind it are pure speculation in any case....

I quite agree with what you write but she has to realise she has landed herself with a role that ain't Hollywood. She will, like it or not, have to conform to the protocol of 'the firm' and undertake duties that can't be chosen by her. She appears a very demanding woman and is already making herself unpopular within royal circles. It will only end in tears.
Michelle Obama offered her sage advice about settling in very slowly to the ways of protocol and the Royal family.
It would seem to outsiders the advise, has to some extent ,been ignored.

I know that a normal pregnancy and childbirth are not illnesses. It can be....and mostly is..... a lovely experience. The sore bits, bleeding, leaking and tiredness do pale a little when you have this new baby. But you still need a little consideration......"landing a role" doesn't do away with the bad bits.
I have known women though whose partners have been thoughtless and uncaring.....expecting everything "back to normal" immediately.
I just didn't know, until this thread, how many there were.

I imagine that penny has long since dropped.
///She will, like it or not, have to conform to the protocol of 'the firm' and undertake duties that can't be chosen by her.///
Ditto.....
///She appears a very demanding woman and is already making herself unpopular within royal circles. ///
No evidence of that. And the 4th Esate filling column-inches with quotes from 'unnamed sources close to the Royal household' is no proof.
///It will only end in tears.///
It's a shame some people are awaiting such an event with obvious glee and in anticpation of being able to have "told us all so"...
///Michelle Obama offered her sage advice about settling in very slowly to the ways of protocol and the Royal family.

It would seem to outsiders that is little proof of that ever happening....
Apart from that......spot on!
