vulcan, did the £1bn take account of the money they made from selling their previous offices in White City? They were costing a fortune in intervieweses' cab fare.. They're saving quite a bit by being in the middle of town, and TV Centre is being turned into flats and offices
Sparkly, not every pensioner is on pension credit!! What about those pensioners who just miss the criteria to claim credit and have to manage on their meagre pension and try to find £150.
jno, I did check a few sites but couldn't find out how much they got for the White city premises but I guess it was added to the kitty. A billion pounds would buy quite a few taxi fares. My point was the BBC can spend the money we have to give them, without any justification. I can't believe it's all good value for money, 86 million for a new backdrop on just one programme seems inordinately expensive.
