I suppose we'll need to wait for the recording to come out, which I am sure it will soon. But even then I think there will be plenty of Boris apologists who won't care.
It's not exactly difficult to record evidence in this modern day and age, though, is it?
What depths people will stoop to in order to imply that this is a deliberate attempt to destroy Johnson, rather than, you know, that he actually *is* what he has always shown himself to be, namely a cad with no respect for anyone other than himself.
I think 'cad' is putting it very politely, Jim. Why has nobody challenged him about his serial adultery; the betrayal of his wife with several mistresses; his fathering of an illegitimate child? Don't these lapses in his morals indicate that he's not to be trusted?
Jim, //But this incident has hardly taken place in isolation. //
What? A row with his girlfriend? Is that really anyone's business? No, but they'll make it their business if it means an opportunity to stick the boot in. Different name, same game. Deja vu.
The thing is, though, this is the man that is very likely to become our PM. Of course it's everybody's business what his character and general demeanour is, as a result. There's something messed up if the amount of scrutiny applied to someone's character is inversely proportional to the prominence of their role in life.
And, as I say, it hardly stops at a row with his girlfriend. This stuff should matter.
