The headline said that the child was dangled out of the window but the article said that the grandfather slipped near the window and the child slid out - might just be the usual Mail scaremongering headline

237SJ, I did notice that but even so, the risk factor was still high.
It doesn't mention him dangling the child from the window.

Poor little thing :-(
Grim Grim Grim Grim Grim :S :S

Couldn't imagine anything more traumatic for the Grandfather.

er g-f being dangled out of the window by the toddler?

g-f dangling and toddler trying to close window on g-f fingers ? in order to be safe of course
I think that would be less traumatic.

The feeling of guilt and blame is more intense than fear, in my experience.

I think it would be less traumatic to be dropped of a balcony, than to accidentally drop a baby/toddler off a balcony for it to land (quote)"on the hard concrete of the Puerto Rico dock".

Imagine explaining that to the parents.

I'd want to curl up into a ball and die myself.
The accident did happen.

The bloke must be beyond distraught. Doubt he'll ever get over it.
That child would have been terrified the minute she was dangled. We are all born with a fear of falling don't forget. Nightmare for all concerned.
The actual article doesn't mention the child be dangled.
To dangle a child where it might fall to its death is the height of recklessness and stupidity, bordering on criminal gross negligence. No sympathy here for the grandfather.
Her grandfather is believed to have slipped and fallen while holding the toddler by a window on the 11th deck of the Freedom of the Seas ship.
"Her grandfather is believed to have slipped and fallen while holding the toddler by a window on the 11th deck of the Freedom of the Seas ship."

"Department of Public Security official Elmer Román said the grandfather was playing a game with the child when she slipped from his arms. "

"El Vocero reported the grandfather was holding the child when he slipped and fell into the window, and the child then fell from his arms to her death. "

There is no mention of anyone being dangled from the window. The Daily Fail, being the click bait scum they are, yet again, giving false interpretations of what actually happened, giving people a prejudice sense of "no sympathy". This kind of attitude is what is promoting an apathetic society which leads to crime such as theft, vandalism, assault.
Maybe forget ‘ dangled out the window’ a dreadful tragedy.
no dangling mentioned.

3T, in the headline only.
The descriptions seem unclear. What type of game will, after slipping, send a child plunging from outside the window ? Whilst even unlikely things can be possible, it sounds more likely one was trying to describe the situation to minimise blame. But hopefully an investigation will clarify. Meanwhile, whatever the circumstances, horrendous thing to have occurred. Thoughts with the family.
Only an idiot like Michael Jackson would dangle a child over a big drop.
The headline states 'being dangled out of window'

"Indiana toddler falls to her death after being 'dangled out of window' by her grandfather from 11th deck of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in Puerto Rico"
But doesn't mention it in the article.
It appears that the finer points of the circumstances serve only to ramp up the cold-hearted absence of sympathy from the usual keyboard opinionistas on here.

A child has died tragically - I think we can reasonably assume that her death was not deliberate, so anything else is merely detail - unless you feel the need to blame someone from afar to make yourself feel superior - and let's face it, the internet is tailor-made for that.
