Neighhh chance ;)
No but it doesn't rule out an early November GE either, basking in the glow and taking advantage of the feel good factor after a hard won freedom for the UK, to fully cement his and the government's position. :))
OK, what odds for a VONC then?
this week Mr Corbyn was gifted a chance to table a motion of no confidence, and he declined it. not sure why - if Boris is as universally unpopular as various sources would have us believe, and if Mr Corbyn is truly ready for an election at any time, why did he back away from the challenge?
i thought Corbyn was the one that was universally unpopular?
There you are TTT, I’ve been looking for you since yesterday . Being a wee bit elusive ?
//if Boris is as universally unpopular as various sources would have us believe,//

Perhaps Corbyn doesn't believe anything leeched out by the Beep Beep See and the establishment media either then.
Boris Johnson, the man famous for telling lies and changing his mind, states that he will not call an early general election. That's alright then.

mushroom: "this week Mr Corbyn was gifted a chance to table a motion of no confidence, and he declined it." - What with all the nazis in the party and assorted other loonies, Lib non dems will pick up the moderate remoaners and Brexit will pick up the leavers, Cob knows he'd get hammered so the last thing he wants is a GE. So basically hardly any of the HOQ wants one. The next GE will be in 2022.
Oops, pressed answer too quickly. You posted yesterday * Nicola Sturgeon * has an inherent hatred of the english*. I wonder TTT could you provide evidence of your statement ? Many thanks .

raise your own post anne, don't hijack this one.
Just answer the question, or maybe some abers will agree you really are a coward, with diarrhoea of the mouth . With respect .

I raised a post for you anne.
I think the next election will be long before 2022.
Thursday’s by election could cut the government’s effective majority to 1.
So regardless of brexit, it’s hard to see a government surviving for another 3 years what with further by elections, possible further defections etc.
This is a period of political turbulence. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are two elections before 2022.
At least.
The PM may not want an early election but as has been raised already, if he loses a no-confidence vote it's not up to him.

yes TCL and as mentioned above also, agent Cob turned down the chance to have a VONC, neither Labour nor the Tories want an election. ich, it's quite possible to govern with no majority it just means more cooperation and compromise. It's what would happen if we had PR anyway.
//if he loses a no-confidence vote it's not up to him. //

the house is closed until 3rd September. when they return there's practically no time for business before the conference season closes it again until the 2nd week in October.

can't see there being any time for the business of government, never mind a vote of no confidence. Mr Corbyn had his chance and he blew it.
//...it's quite possible to govern with no majority it just means more cooperation and compromise.//

You have to be careful with cooperation and compromise, Tora. It is Mrs May's relentless pursuit of compromise (for which read "we're leaving but we're not really leaving") which led to the current fiasco. There can be no "compromise" when it comes to leaving the EU. We're either in it or we're not. Any alternative to the Lisbon Treaty will simply be membership by any other name (as the the famous "Withdrawal Agreement" attests). I'm still waiting to find out what compromise would have been negotiated had the electorate voted 52:48 to remain.
Question Author
judge I'm talking about after brexit when they return to business as usual.
Sorry, Tora. Misunderstood.
