Bbc Finally Admits Its Own Bias
This isn't simply a crime of omission, it's downright fake news they are responsible for & is what some of us on AB have been saying for a long time;

The two main parties were and still are split since ra eturn of sovereignty in return for a period of reduced economy was valued and unvalued cross party. The official stance being of secondary importance. For sure the Tories seem mainly for leave and Labour for continued EU control, but it's not 100% in either case.

The BBC has not admitted it is biased in that letter. It has admitted it made a mistake.
And it was a mistake that is easy to make. The Conservative Party is split down the middle on pro or anti brexit. It did not publish a manifesto for the EU Elections because it couldn’t find any wording that it could agree on.
A YouGov poll shortly before the election found that 37% of voters thought the Conservatives were an anti-Brexit Party.
As to the offending graphic, there are problems with it. It tried to over simplify a complex picture. Both the Conservatives and Labour have MPs that have opposing views, some are pro brexit, some are anti Brexit. You cannot safely lump them in the pro brexit bar in the graph, and you cannot put them in the anti-Brexit category either. Rightly, they did not assign them to a side, but the resulting graph was unclear. Rather that add clarity to the story of how people voted, it added more confusion.

I’d regard that apology as unnecessary castigating .
The BBC has to be neutral and appear neutral hence these “apologies” some of which are valid and while I don’t say this one was without foundation it was, as Gromit explains, a potentially misleading error.
Not the gross bias you get from websites and broadcasters who really do seem to distort news for their own, or their sponsors, benefit.

The BBC, as is most MSM, is very left leaning so it is obvious that any reporting will be in line with that leaning.
I have found that if you ratchet down by 50% you might be getting nearer the truth but TBH the BBC isn’t my main news sauce. I tend to look at MSM and non and see who is screaming the least.

Cassa,
Membership of the EU does not follow Party lines. At the time of the Referendum, more Tory MPs were supporting Remaining, than of Leaving.

Part of the reason we did not leave on the 31st March was because Pro Remain Conservatives rejected the deal
The left is anti Europe. All Labour’s socialist stalwarts, Tony Benn, Peter Shore, Bill Cash, Dennis Skinner, Jeremy Corbyn et al, are, and always have been anti EU. Corbyn voted against ratifying the Lisbon Treaty.
To wrongly suggest that this error was deliberate because the BBC is leftist (it isn’t) doesn’t even make sense.
