If one is looking for dictators, one once again needs to look towards Europe. In this case the EU. But their ability to dictate to the UK seems to be near an end thanks to our leader Boris, and his team of course.

No idea. Did owt occur ?
In any case, no point it paying attention to those who claim to want democracy defended but have approved of those ignoring it for months trying to kill it off; and on top of that complaining that Boris is actually preventing its death here by being in mourning for democracy's saviour. They need to sort out their confusion first.

Sorry, maggie, but that is ridiculous tosh. The losing Remainers have had since March 2017 to repeal the law that the HoC passed (to leave the EU) by five to one. They have already postponed that even twice by highly dubious tactics. Their strategy is clearly to frustrate the law that they themselves passed but none of them have the courage to introduce a bill to repeal it. Now they are moaning at the loss of just five or six days of Parliamentary time. Mr Major prorogued Parliament for three weeks prior to its dissolution in 1997 and I don't recall any accusations of tyranny being made towards him. The Remainers faux outrage is stuff and nonsense.

//I'm "quoting" what was on the placards I saw in Dundee.//
Then you should have said so maggie. Your post gave the impression that those were your thoughts.
I sincerely wish you well in your quest for an Independent Scotland (so long as it doesn't involve even more of English taxpayers' money being barrowed up the M6 every night).

//Think you need to take a closer look at the figures NJ.//
You on't need to get too bogged down, maggie.
The UK as a whole currently runs an annual deficit of around £24bn (that is, it spends that amount more than it takes in taxes). Scotland (with about 8% of the population) accounts for a little over half that deficit. Public spending per head in Scotland is around £2,000 more than that in England. The Westminster government is having to borrow around £12bn per annum so that the Scots can enjoy this additional spending. You can examine the figures any way you like but the inescapable fact is that Scotland as a whole enjoys considerable financial support from English taxpayers.
