Why do these "refugees" or "assylum seekers" come to the UK for their refuge and assylum? If they want assylum, there are loads of countries which are much nearer than we are, being on the fringe of Western Europe.

Because the perceived wisdom is that the UK will welcome them with its support systems more easily than some of its European neighbours.

That coupled with the fact that there are growing immigrant communities here makes the UK a more attractive option than the potential isolation and hostility of some European countries.

Exactly, that is why we should be less of an easy touch to these illegal economic migrants.

If we do not put a stop to the situation, there will be less to go round for those British citizens who have worked hard, served for there country and paid their taxes over many years.

If that was the case why don't the majority of them speak in English?

Perhaps we could then save thousands of pounds by not providing them with interpreters so as to help them to sign into our NHS etc.

That would be entirely counterproductive, since it would hinder the NHS operatives trying to teach patients who don't speak English, and I think their job is hard enough without trying to discuss complex medical issues with someone under the duress of non-communication.

It would seem these non English speaking patients understand where and when they have to attend their appointments.It should be clearly stated on the appointment forms that patients either bring a English speaking family member or organise and pay for their own interpreter. The hospitals can supply a list of interpreters for foreign patients. The NHS have used them enough times.If they can't arrange that for themselves then they should be turned away.
