Boom! Right on time.
It’s the slowest invasion I’ve ever seen. Maybe it’s time to bring back National Service in the form of The Home guard? They’d see em off, surely?
The old point is still valid though. Trouble is taken to intercept those acting illegally, yet instead of returning them to where they are permitted they are helped to enter here. It's well over high time this aiding and abetting of illegal immigration was stopped.
difficult to take this 1000 repeat point seriously

well there are shootings in Texas and unwanted immigrants in Enlgand and Trump is always ready to assist the Bonker
so why not import some texans and put them on guard at the coast lilne?

problem solved ! ( cries of yeah foo, right on, well put etc etc)
damn problem solved end of

//crews are concerned with 'rescuing those in trouble and bringing them safely back to shore, where they will be handed over to the relevant partner emergency services or authorities'//

if "rescue" is the prime objective, and since "handing them over to the relevant partner authorities" means doing nothing more than giving them a train ticket to East Croydon and telling them to report to Lunar House, could the Border Force not make it safer for everybody by just handing out free ferry tickets at Calais?
Quick, someone mention Gruinard Island.

Apparently according to an ex immigration official, they are first given a though medical check over, found accommodation and then set free, until their request for British citizenship is considered, those who don't wish to go through this, just disappear into the black economy.
///difficult to take this 1000 repeat point seriously///

Someone needs to take it seriously because over 1,100 have arrived in the last twelve months (66 last Saturday alone).
What does it need before it is taken seriously? 2,000? 10,000? 100,000?
If Boris really wants to secure an election win, he needs to turn his attention to this problem NOW! and do something about it NOW! because when most folk voted ( albeit ill informed at the time) it was to lock the back door.
Not all the migrants will be trying to enter via Dover. I'll bet there are lots of other places where they might be arriving unnoticed.

In a radio interview one ex border official said that some may be landing, further East down the coast in Devon.

I ask you, no wonder he is an ex border official.
The UK Border Force has halved since the conservatives took over in 2010. The Government treat this as a low priority compared to other contries

UK coastline is 7,723 miles and we have 3 patrol vessels.
Italy coastline is 4,722miles and they have 600 patrol vessels.
Gromit, where do you get the 600 patrol boats from? According to the link the number is seven.

Gromit.
Pedalos don't count as patrol cutters.
I notice the marking on one of the boats pictured says "Border Force". Hah!: What border; what force?
Gromit, if you increase the number of Border Force vessels then you merely increase the number of illegal migrants intercepted, I mean rescued and brought safely ashore.
Gromit, It does not quote how many of Italy's vessels are actual patrol boats. My link does.
Also in the Telegraph

I suspect the Italian vessels are not Navy ones, but a dedicated Border Patrol.
