Spicerack/hereIam, I don’t agree with changing rules to suit a small minority and I didn’t say that, but there are other reasons here, one being concern over the length of skirts – quite pertinent in my opinion. I do think the complaint that this prevents girls from ‘expressing themselves in a skirt’ and that the new uniform is ‘sexist’ are ‘precious’ - just as I think demands that Muslim women are allowed to ‘express’ themselves by wearing a burka are precious. I simply think trousers are more practical, and compared to short skirts, more respectable – not to mention potentially safer.
