And the parents should be ashamed, in fact one such mother was just on GMTV , her dress was nearly around her thighs.
Just wear your uniform because when you eventually enter the work force, there's rules to be adhered to that you'll have to follow!

I think girls wearing trousers as part of their school uniform is a sensible idea. It's nearly impossible to enforce a skirt length - think of the outrage if girls were made to kneel down to check if the skirt touched the floor as was the practice. It would have been much more sensible if this schools head had kept gender out of the equation.

Hope you get a bargain Teacake :0)
Cheapskate, get some juicy loin.
"And that's a big nit-picky Spath"

Whatever it is, it's the implication Naomi gave.. So if as she says "Where have I dictated dress code?"

I shall tell hr where she has maybe not dictated it as such, but very strongly suggested they should all wear trousers and shut up about it.

Her following comments support this.
Might look out for a bit of rump.
Cheeky...
1ozzy, //Naomi, when haven't you dictated whatever hobbyhorse you are on. //

Ah, I see. This isn't just a difference of opinions ... just a discussion ....it's a personal attack upon me. Who'd a guessed. ;o)

Yes, I do wear trousers when horse-riding.
This is nothing to do with gender neutrality as a political thing, but has obviously been done because some girls (and parents) won't respect the rule that says skirts have to be a certain length.

Fair enough, everyone wears trousers. Problem solved. Anyone unhappy with it needs to blame the people that wouldn't stick to the uniform in the first place.

Too many 'new' phrases are bandied about now like gender neutral etc
Naomi in Jodphurs. Mmmm.
With a decent little whip.. ;)
Oh yes.
calm down boys ...
See ya can still wear trousers and get sexualised.
ludwig//This is nothing to do with gender neutrality as a political thing//

The school says it is. Shouldn't they know better than random people on the net why they banned skirts.
In fairness, spicerack, they did say it was because of skirt lengths too.
In fairness, to say this is nothing to do with gender neutrality is wrong.
(if you believe the school)
Even if they all wore shorts, you’d find some girls with very short shorts.
// to say this is nothing to do with gender neutrality is wrong.

I don't believe the school. I think it's just easier for them to implement a trousers only policy than to expect teachers to try and police some skirt length rule where they have to wander around with tape measures doing spot checks.

The teachers probably refused to do it, and I don't blame them. They'd probably have had the same whinging parents calling the police on them for sexual assault or something.
I'm really, really glad I didn't have to wear trousers at school, I much preferred a skirt, but then I didn't wind the waistband up as much as it would go to shorten my skirt ! I definitely feel that if girsl want to wear skirts, they should be able to.
If girls were meant to wear trousers then , skirts would not have been invented
