he may be right, an election may not solve anything. but it will take 6 months to set up and hold a referendum. is leaving the country without an effective government for 6 months desirable or workable?

I have always thought a referendum is the obvious solution.
My own party seems to be pushing for a revocation of Article 50 which I’m dubious about. Let the people accept or reject what parliament could not accept.

It’s a bit of a Catch 22 tho because without an election it’s hard to see who would be in a position to call one.
The Tory party are still mouthing the “31 Oct No ifs no buts” line.
And parliament does not necessarily have a majority in favour.

Given that continually asking until an approved answer results is the sort of dirty undemocratic tactic the EU uses, and which we're trying to get away from, he may carry on wanting another referendum as much as he likes. He only continues to ruin the reputation of his party, proving them unelectable to any reasonable voter.

Opponents of a second referendum always claim it would be a repeat of the first, which of course it would not.
And while some have always advocated putting a deal to the vote, there seems a lot more point to it now that it had failed to get through parliament at all,
Not so much waiting to get the right answer as actually asking a sensible question.
