Diplomatic immunity is an outdated concept. If someone commits an offence they should be accountable in the jurisdiction of the place the offence was committed - whoever they are. I suspect she fled in panic but if she has any decency at all she should return & face the music. I'm not holding my breath.

The USA very, very rarely waive Diplomatic Immunity so instead of appealing to Trump, Johnson ought to be demanding they do so on this occasion. You can be sure if the boot were on the other foot, Trump would make sure we acquiesce.

If she came back for trial assuming no aggravating factors (drink/drugs/driving illegally) she might get a 2 year jail sentence suspended for 2 years and a driving ban. Probably worth it to settle the matter.
