Well it's highly unlikely Parliament will accept this as Labour will enforce the whip and DUP won't vote for it. So maybe Boris sees this as his way of saying "we nearly did it but Parliament's Remainers stopped it- so it'll be No Deal and/or an election. If he is forced to request an extension he could make it clear to EU he has no further points to negotiate so EU may decide not to agree to an extension.

It looks like the ERG has abandoned the DUP.
If you are coming at this from the point of view of someone who supports No Deal then you haven’t been “conned”.
Because Johnson said he always wanted a deal and turns out he wasn’t bluffing.
And looks like nearly all if not all of those MPs who seemed to favour that have recanted.

I think he needed to agree something and decided this was the best he could get out of the EU. Full marks for that, not many for bringing back a draft agreement that fails to truly represent an exit. Time will now tell whether Westminster thinks it's sufficient and accepts, or rejects it, and assuming the latter, whether the EU is masochistic enough to agree a further time wasting extension, or has the guts to refuse and let us get out properly.

If you still think this isn’t a proper exit from the EU then there’s really no hope for you :-)
If it doesn’t pass, the EU will grant an extension I am sure because this deal has proved that it is possible to take steps toward agreement previously thought impossible. It’s sort of like the ice has been broken.
As I said earlier it looks like the only people voting against will be those who think it’s gone too far, not that it hadn’t gone far enough.
I probably owe Johnson an apology (a small one) because I seriously thought he was kidding about a deal.
So if I was conned I’m happy about that :-)

All he is done is come up with something to not deal with the Irish issue, the rest is the same unnacceptable package. The clever part is that Boris knows that and his main ally is the HOQ, bless em! The DUP are probably right to say that, far from being calculating, he’s been been coraaled into a deal by the Benn act. Except that it only looks bad from their point of view. But you can’t do Brexit, and that includes a No Deal Brexit, without seriously messing with Ireland north and south, because of the geography and the politics. Like I said on the other thread he has plainly gambled that it’s worth dumping the DUP to win over the ERG: he’s not scheming but pursuing a high risk strategy. In fairness to him so far it has worked. I guess his tactics had to start working sometime :-)

There will be rows, negotiations, disputes, arguing with the EU for years, maybe for decades.
Unfortunately the likes of Farage forget to tell you that

You seem to be suggesting that this is all a plot by him deliberately to fail.
I am telling you that it rather is a plan - albeit that has a high chance of failing spectacularly.
The consequences of failure for him are uncertain to say the least, which is why I say he’d be an idiot to want failure.
Why do you think Farage is ranting away on the sidelines, fuming that the EU might not grant an extension?
Presumably because he could see the Benn Act offering an election coming before Brexit was “done” and this unexpected development might spoil that.
